Hey Moodler,

The best Moodle sites have something in common: they're never really finished.

Every year they evolve a little, shaped by new ideas, technologies, and the people who use them. They grow alongside the organisations they support, adapting without losing what's already working.

This principle has shaped a lot of what we’ve been building this month, especially with the 🥳 launch of Moodle Marketplace 🥳! We hope this month's edition gives you a few new ideas for your own Moodle site.

Is your learning ecosystem ready for what's next?

AI, compliance, changing learner expectations... none of these are one-time challenges. Our new Design for change guide explores what makes a learning ecosystem adaptable — and includes practical worksheets and a self-assessment to help you see where your own ecosystem stands.

Field Notes

Every Moodle site tells a story

This month's Field Notes explores why the best learning environments keep evolving over time, what that says about the organisations behind them, and why Moodle Marketplace is really about supporting that evolution — not just adding more plugins.

Skip the email chain

Need to send a quick reminder or answer a question? Go to Participants, select one or more people using the checkboxes, then choose Send a message from the With selected users... menu at the bottom of the page.

Your message will be delivered both by email and as a Moodle message, making it easier to keep course communication in one place.

💬 Go to Participants → Select users → Send a message

Take the paperwork out of enrolment

Need learners to apply before joining a course? The Enrolment Request plugin lets you create custom application forms, manage approvals, communicate with applicants, and keep a complete audit trail — all from within your Moodle site.

About you:

Last month, we asked what the biggest change to your Moodle site has been over the past five years.

The answer was clear: AI tools and new technologies dominated with 56% of the vote, well ahead of accessibility (19%), with growth and compliance tied at 13%. It’s a good reminder that most of us are adapting to change in real time, rather than planning for some distant future.

This month, we want to know...

What's most likely to send you looking for a new plugin or integration for your Moodle site?

  • A request from educators.
  • A learner need.
  • A new organisational requirement.
  • Curiosity — I like trying new things.
