💬 What we’re talking about
Accessibility should not be an afterthought. In this MoodleMoot Global session, Frédéric Harper explored what it means to create courses that are accessible by design, from clearer structure and readable contrast to alt text, keyboard navigation and screen reader-friendly content.
"Every person, no matter their limitation, should have the right to have access to your course."
His message was simple: you do not need to be an accessibility expert to make a difference. With the right tools and mindset, course creators can spot issues early and build learning experiences that more people can access, use and enjoy.
In his MoodleMoot session, Frédéric showed how small design changes—like alt text, keyboard navigation, clear layouts and strong contrast—can make learning more accessible for everyone.
🤔 Which accessibility improvement has the biggest impact in your courses?
Last month, we asked: What matters most in a mobile learning experience?
🔌 Offline access --> 30%
🧭 Simple navigation --> 38%
🔔 Push notifications --> 6%
👆 Accessibility --> 23%
We heard you: Based on your answers, course creators should prioritise simple navigation and easy offline access so learners can focus on learning, not on finding content or staying connected.
📚 What we're reading
What if small changes to your course design could make learning work better for everyone?
This Moodle article explores how designing with neurodiversity in mind creates more inclusive learning experiences for all learners. It highlights practical approaches such as reducing cognitive overload, providing flexible ways to engage with content, and designing for different learning preferences. The result is a learning environment where more people can succeed.
💡Small design changes can make a big difference for every learner.
Every month, we spotlight someone using the Moodle platform in creative, impactful ways. Have a story of your own? We’d love to hear it!
"Moodle is the best part of my job. I say that with confidence. The community is amazing."
When Dillon Richardson joined the World Flying Disc Federation, he saw an opportunity to rethink how training was delivered to a growing global community. Using Moodle, he helped build the WFDF Academy, giving athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers in more than 125 countries access to learning anytime, anywhere.
From certification pathways to downloadable offline courses, Moodle has helped the federation reach more learners while reducing administrative work. For Dillon, the platform's flexibility and collaborative spirit have enabled learning to grow far beyond the classroom.
💡Great learning can travel anywhere when it's built to be open and accessible.
