Add a friendly banner to your Moodle space
Who doesn't love a warm welcome, a seasonal greeting, or some guidance on where to start? This simple HTML banner helps you add context, warmth, or guidance right where people need it — on your Moodle site Dashboard or inside a course.
Use it to welcome learners, share timely updates, set expectations, or gently point people in the right direction — or to wish everyone a Happy Lunar New Year!
Here’s what your banner can look like once it’s added:

What this does
-
Adds a clean, styled banner to anywhere you can add HTML on your Moodle site (usually a Text block or a Text and media area).
-
Uses HTML you can paste in using the View source code in the TinyMCE editor.
-
Works across all Moodle platforms and themes.
The HTML
Copy and paste this into:
- a Text block (Dashboard → Add block → Text), or
- a Text and media area inside your course (turn editing on → Add an activity or resource → Text and media area).
🚨NOTE🚨 Make sure you're pasting this into a field that will accept HTML directly. In the TinyMCE Editor, you'll do this by using the View source code feature.
<div style="padding:1.25rem;border-radius:12px;background:#f7f7f9;">
<h3 style="margin-top:0;">Welcome 👋</h3>
<p>This is where you can share a quick message, reminder, or bit of guidance to help learners get started.</p>
</div>
Want to make it your own?
This is just a starting point. You can:
- Change the background colour.
- Adjust spacing or rounded corners.
- Rewrite the text for different audiences or moments in the course.
Because it’s plain HTML, it’s flexible and forgiving — perfect for quick updates without touching site-wide settings.
✨ A little welcome goes a long way. ✨
